I once was confused if I was flying to the correct Ontario Airport. Read on if you want to learn more about where Ontario Canada is.
Check out our full report on Ontario here.
Ontario is on the South-Eastern portion of Canada; though it is not the eastern-most province. Ontario spans the Central and Eastern Time Zones.
Ontario covers a large area, sharing borders with the US States of
- New York
- Pennsylvania
- Ohio
- Michigan
- Minnesota
- Wisconsin
These borders can be direct or touching the same Great Lakes.
Since it cover's such a large area, there is not a specific latitude-longitude coordinate for Ontario. A basic range of coordinates include:
- Toronto: 43 lat -79 long
- Moosonee: 51 lat -79 long
- Thunder Bay: -48 lat -89 long
- Lake of the Woods: 49 lat -94 long
- Fort Severn: 56 lat -88 long
Getting to Ontario
Like any large area with a large population, Ontario is very easy to get to. There are multiple international and regional airports. Many highways traverse the province as well as railroads. With boat travel opened up via the Great Lakes and Hudson Bay, Ontario is one of the most highly accessible destinations in the world.
Ontario Nearby Attractions
There are too many attractions to write about here. Many are drawn to the CN Tower or to watch a nearby Blue Jays Baseball Game. If you're on vacation in Ontario, there's a good chance Niagara Falls is already on you list of destinations to visit.
Lakes Ontario, Huron, Eerie, and Superior all offer incredible recreation in the summer. Some of the bast beach houses and communities I've seen are actually on the Canadian side of these lakes.
Toronto, like some of the larger East Coast cities in the United States offers has incredible restaurants offering cuisines from around the world.
I love to sample the different cuisines. The only must-visit restaurant I point others to is Momofuku - which was featured on Netflix's "Ugly Delicious."
Summary
Ontario is the easiest to find province in Canada. Ontario's large population makes it the hub of various industries and markets for all of Canada.
The province is on the Eastern side of Canada. Most of the population is in the Eastern Time Zone; though, some do cross-over into Central Time.
